Remember “DLL Hell”? After dealing with Wise packaging for several huge deployments I’m starting to feel the same about .NET framework. We have apps that require 1.1, 2.0 SP1, 3.0 and 3.5 SP1. The package for pushing .NET is pretty involved by itself. Java Runtime is also a pain. I think they update JRE every other week. I’ll bet by the time we get 15,000 computers updated with .NET 3.5 SP1, Microsoft will have 4.0 out. Sheesh. I'm starting to hate software, which has been the ONLY thing keeping me interested in technology thus far.
