Five Things

I've seen a lot of "five things to do" lists, but this one comes from me and talking with my son Zach, who just turned 10.

5 Things to do Before Age 12

  • Eat only foods you've never tried for an entire day
  • Watch a full episode of a show you normally hate
  • Eat an entire half-gallon of ice cream
  • Use your "other" hand for everything you do for an entire day
  • Learn a few coin or card tricks

5 Things to do Before Age 20

  • Learn to play an instrument
  • Drive across your home state
  • Vote
  • Get drunk at least once
  • Learn a second (or third) language
5 Things to do Before Age 30
  • Drive across the country
  • Travel to a different country
  • Get a college degree
  • Get married (or co-habitate)
  • Make a meal from produce in your own garden

5 Things to do Before Age 50

  • Start a Blog, Facebook or Twitter account
  • Cut back to 2 cups of coffee per day
  • Get a check-up
  • Get a haircut
  • Call someone you haven't spoken with in at least 5 years

The "Get drunk" comment should have included a footnote to do so without driving involved. At home would be best. If you live where there's decent mass transit, like NYC, that works also.
