Working IT Moms

I am all in favor of women in the IT business.  I'm all in favor of anyone in the IT business...

As long as they know what they're doing.

But -

These days it seems a lot of folks telecommute (not my company however) and moms are a very common telecommuting sector of the IT community.

Please - Please - Please --> All you working-from-home IT moms:

PUT YOUR PHONES ON MUTE WHEN YOUR BABY CRIES OR YOUR KIDS COME BEGGING FOR ATTENTION

Here’s why:

You may think you are showing dedication and determination to your coworkers on the phone.  But what they’re thinking is:  If you can ignore your own kid for that long, what ELSE are you ignoring?  And… If work is more important to you than your own family, what does that say about your ability to prioritize?
