Bad News for Beer Enthusiasts

According to this article on the WSJ site, it looks like Hops are being hit hard by weather-induced crop shortages (worldwide) as well as overbearing demand on crop-growers by larger corporate brewers. The prices for Hops worldwide have risen from $3-$5 per pound in January, to $25-$40 per pound in September. That's big increase indeed!

First copper, then aluminum, now Hops? Holy cow! Just when you need to get drunk to forget about the 800 lb economic gorilla in the room, now you get it served ice-cold by the gorilla himself! Good thing I don't drink anymore.
